We know that you’ll be tempted to eat your Windset Farms produce as soon as you bring it home, but if you do manage to resist, here are some storage tips to maximize flavor and freshness.
To help your fruits and vegetables stay fresh as long as possible, it’s best to store them unwashed. Wash just before eating or preparing. Once you’ve cut or peeled your fruits and vegetables, they should be stored in the refrigerator.
Tomatoes
For maximum flavor, don’t refrigerate your tomatoes! Leave them in a cool dry place, preferably in a paper bag. This will enhance their shelf-life and taste. Also, try and avoid putting your tomatoes in direct sunlight near a window, as this will heat up the fruit and decrease its shelf-life.
If you do refrigerate your tomatoes, bring them to room temperature before eating – they’ll taste better!
Cucumbers
Keep your cucumbers in the refrigerator for maximum shelf-life. Try and keep the original plastic wrap on any unused portions of your cucumber to maintain freshness.
Peppers
Peppers can be stored in a plastic bag in your fridge for more than a week.
