Our greenhouse facilities combine state-of-the-art technology and old-fashioned attention to detail to ensure optimal growing conditions.
We currently have almost 75 acres (30 hectares) of greenhouses. Our sophisticated, computerized irrigation and ventilation systems help us nurture our produce to ripeness on the vine before they are handpicked. This controlled environment also allows us to grow all our produce without herbicides. It’s all part of our commitment to grow the freshest, most delicious vine-ripened vegetables for our customers.
We’re proud to say that all of our produce is greenhouse grown. We create the ideal growing conditions – giving our vegetables exactly the right amount of light, nutrition, water, ventilation and carbon dioxide that they need to thrive and grow, 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.
Unlike traditional soil-based farming operations, we can grow and harvest our crops year-round. We’re also making better use of the land, and are able to grow considerably more food per acre than would be possible outside of the greenhouse. In fact, we can grow 10 to 20 times as much food in the same area as conventional farming methods.
At Windset Farms, we use innovative water and heat conservation technology. Our plants are grown in soil-less bags with drip irrigation. This method means water and nutrients stay in the bags and out of the groundwater. We even collect and use the rainwater as a major source of fresh water for our plants - nothing goes to waste. And our computerized systems ensure that our plants get only what’s needed – the proper amount of water and nutrition, nothing more. We also use technology to conserve heat. Excess heat generated by our high-efficiency boilers is stored for use during cool nights.
Beautiful and packed full of flavor, Windset Farms greenhouse-grown produce is naturally nutritious.
